2018 Tata Harrier testing in rains – Reveals floating touchscreen system, dashboard
The dashboard of the new Tata Harrier has been spied for the first time. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast at The Next COG for sharing the images.
As Tata Motors continues to strengthen domestic sales, the company has been relentlessly working on things to come. The first of which will be the launch of Tata Harrier in late 2018 or early 2019, about a year after the vehicle was shown at 2018 Auto Expo as Tata H5X.
Harrier is the first car in Tata Motors’ lineup to borrow platform from Land Rover. Ever since Tata Motors took over Jaguar Land Rover, it was being reported that one day, Tata will use the platform and technology of JLR cars, in their own cars. Finally, the day seems to be closer than ever before.
Tata Harrier test mules are on the job day and night, and the most recent spyshot shows the car tackling bad roads in Pune on a rainy day. It also reveals the floating touchscreen infotainment system. Just like Nexon, but a lot bigger and slimmer, the system on Harrier will also be powered by Harman, and will feature Apple Carplay, Android Auto. Diagonally, it seems to be a 10 inch unit.
Along with that, the new spy shots also detail all-LED split headlights and taillight. With the headlight cluster split, there are now 3 distinct light elements upfront with a prominent split DRL that adds character to the front fascia. Below this sits the headlight cluster. Tata’s certainly working those angles and the taillight is a great example of this as it’s devoid of bulk, and is laid out in triangular design.
