Yamaha to focus on 125cc scooters

At the launch of the new Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125, Yamaha also revealed a part of its strategy going forward. Interestingly, despite models like the Fascino 110 doing considerably well in terms of sales, the manufacturer has decided that it will discontinue all existing 110cc scooter models to focus on the new 125cc scooters.

Like most of the industry, Yamaha scooter sales have taken a slump lately, with the Fascino 110 selling 13,124 models this past September in comparison to the 20,268 models sold in September 2018. However, the Japanese manufacturer also revealed that it aims to double its market share in the scooter segment by 2025, from the current 5 percent to 10 percent.

The Fascino 110 and 110cc Ray ZR line-up will continue to be on sale until the mandatory BS6 norms come into effect on April 1, 2020. It remains to be seen if Yamaha will update its sole 110cc motorcycle, the Saluto RX, to BS6.
