2019 Audi e-tron awarded 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating

Audi’s all-electric e-tron SUV has secured a 5-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP. The model that was crash-tested was the 55 Quattro variant of the Euro-spec e-tron. However, the 5-star safety rating is applicable to both left- and right-hand-drive cars.

The Audi e-tron was awarded 34.9 points out of 38 (91 percent) for adult-occupancy protection, 41.7 points out of 49 (85 percent) for child occupants, 34.4 points out of 48 (71 percent) for pedestrian safety and 10 points out of 13 (76 percent) for its safety-assist systems.

The test model featured standard safety equipment like front and side airbags, seat-belt reminders, pretensioners and load-limiters, Isofix child seat mounts at the back, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), a speed alert system and lane-keep assist.

The Audi e-tron will be launched in India in early 2020, with the company targeting sales of over 200 units annually. The carmaker is bringing the e-tron to India as a full import now that the government has relaxed norms, allowing carmakers to import 2,500 passenger vehicles a year without requiring them to be homologated in India. Being a fully imported luxury EV, we expect the Audi e-tron's price in India to be upwards of Rs 1 crore.
