BS6 Yamaha FZ, FZ-S and YZF-R15 expected to be launched in December 2019
Yamaha Motor India is expected to launch the BS6 version of its existing range in December 2019. This means we could see a BS6-compliant FZ, FZ-S and YZF-R15 V3.0 before the end of this year. As we had reported earlier, an online document revealed that the power figures of the BS6 Yamaha FZ, FZ-S and R15 will be lower than the BS4 versions. The drop in power in the Yamaha FZ and FZ-S is by 1hp, while the R15’s motor will produce 0.7hp less than the BS4 unit.
While the YZF-R15 already used a fuel-injected motor, we could see the FZ and FZ-S shifting to fuel-injected engines as well, to comply with the strict BS6 emission norms. Besides the FZ, FZ-S and R15 Yamaha could also unveil the BS6 version of the Fascino, its popular scooter in India.
Indian two-wheeler manufacturers have started updating their current products to comply with the BS6 norms that come into effect from April 2020. While in some cases there’s a drop in power, some manufacturers have managed to extract a tiny bit more from their motor. That said, the price of the BS6 versions is expected to go up by a small amount. Stay tuned to know more about BS6 motorcycles as and when they are launched.
